Hello MGAC, It's been a long time!

Well I'm coming back to the MGAC on April 24. The show starts at 8:00 P.M. and it promises to be a fun night. I plan on pulling out all the stops...and all the plugs! It will be a nice night of piano vocal...no tracks, no funky beats. I really want to go back to my roots of the singer/songwriter style for this venue. When you sing in the MGAC, there's no need for wires and mics. I have some news songs almost ready for the night..and a couple of surprises. Word on street is that there might be a reporter there to ask me some questions. I hope he can find me!

Had a blast!

The Decemebr 12 CD release party for Irrational Disposition was a total blast! Approximately 80 people attended, and Maurice even brought a "keyboard" cake! I sang 6 selections off the new album, Irrational Disposition. I sang 5 songs from my first album, Shine. The rest were covers and songs that get very little play at my shows. Since the audience was walking home with a copy of the CD, I wanted to give them something different for the show.

Much love goes out to Maurice for the cake (yummy), Steve for helping me to organize everything from CD sales to room set-up, and all the people who came to make this a special night for me.

Now I just have to figure out a way to sell more of these CDs!!!

It is finished!

That's right. My irrational disposition has taken flight and landed me a brand-spankin'-new CD. The appropriately named "Irrational Disposition" is finished and ready for consumption. This CD turned out very different than my first solo endeavor, "Shine," but I think the new sounds and textures will satisfy tried and true fans while attracting new listeners. "Irrational Disposition" is an indulgent CD for me, a grouping of songs that doesn't ask permission or approval.

I hope to see you at the release party on December 12th at 7:00 P.M. at The Sugar Maple. Check out the "calendar dates" section of this site for more specific info regarding the party!

Much love and happy listening!

Scott

Yes, a new baby is on the way. Irrational Disposition has been sent to the duplication people. It is finished. Now all I have to do is complete the graphics, and it will be in your hands in no time. I am very proud of the outcome, and I hope you will like it also. I won't give you a sample yet, but I will give you the track listing.

By My Side
Bridges That Burn
Act of Contrition
Irrational Disposition
Go
The Boat
Looking Down the Barrel
No Words
I've Seen
Ode to a Fly
Salvador
Old Cape Cod
Skyline

This CD is very different from my debut CD, but I think it manages to hold on to it's singer/songwriter/piano roots. I'll definitely let you know when it is totally ready for purchase. Of course, I will have a release party soon. Hope to see you there!

The Sugar Maple

Scared to ask? I was! I was scared to ask, but I did anyway. For some reason it is so hard for me to talk on the telephone with people I don't know. I can sing in front of any number of people, but I get anxious when I start dialing. After discovering that my favorite bar, The Sugar Maple, has a performance room in the back, I had to work up the courage to ask if I could perform there. A friend of mine got a contact number for me (thanks Will), and I called. Now I will be performing at The Sugar Maple (441 E. Lincoln Ave.) on Thursday, March 12, starting at 7:00 p.m. The cover will be $5. I hope people come...they'd better! Like I said...it's my favorite spot in MKE now and the beer selection is too much fun. If you can't afford $5 in these trying times, maybe we can work something out!

New CD on the Way!

Hello folks. I'm going to be the proud papa of another CD in the upcoming months. Right now I am in the middle of recording, but I can tell you that it will be much different from the debut CD "Shine." I'm trying to hold on to the piano/vocal roots, but there is so much more to come on the next endeavor. I won't waste any more time trying to describe it...you will just have to wait to hear it. Perhaps once I get a track polished and ready for mastering, I will put a bit of it on the website...just to whet your appetite!

Summer, Ah Summer!

This summer has been very relaxing for me in terms of music performing and producing. My thoughts have been elsewhere....a new house, travel, biking, tennis, avoidance of work! I have made several really big steps, though. I have been working on recording my 2nd CD. It is turning out to be really something different than my first effort. I think that's good. You're gonna hear a different side! I'll get it out there as soon as possible. The 2nd awesome event was Pridefest. I sang the National Anthem at Pride this year and Women's Voices of Milwaukee sang a 4-part rendition of my song "A Love Like This." What an honor on both fronts!

A New Era

It was hard to say goodbye to The Mosaic on Downer. I have driven by there several times in hopes that Chip has decided to open it up again...no such luck. Now I have to look forward to my present venue for the May 31st show. At 8:00 P.M., I will do my first solo show at the MGAC, the Milwaukee Gay Arts Center. I have performed here several times, and I have to say that I love singing and playing in the space. It suits me. So, come on out and hear me do my thing. I hope it will suit you, too!

Hard to Say Goodbye

I know I've said previously that The Mosaic will be closing it's doors soon. I'm slowly but surely wrapping my mind around it. It is a simple reminder that change is constant. I have gone though many changes, myself (many because of my experience at The Mosaic!). Where you live, who you know, how you feel, what you eat, what you weigh, who you are...it all changes. Hopefully you grow from these changes. I've grown because of the opportunity to perform in that little space on Downer Ave. There's none other like it in Milwaukee. I'm not the same person I was 4 years ago, and I have to thank Chip, Thomas, and that little room with the tile floor. The Mosaic has offered me a safe place to express myself...to laugh, cry, hate, and love. I will find a new space, but I'll never forget where it all started.

The Mosaic on Downer will be no more.

Yes...it is true. The Mosaic is closing on Downer Ave. This is particularly sad for me because The Mosaic is where it all started for me about 4 years ago. One night I wanted to go sing one of my new, depressing songs about how sad I was at the time. A friend introduced me to open mic night at The Mosaic. I played "You're Still Here," "Look Out," and "Funny." One of the owners came up to me and hired me that night. Funny how things work out sometimes. Well, four years later, one CD later, many performances later, and many new fans later, The Mosaic on Downer is closing it's doors. There's no space like it in Milwaukee. I will try to squeeze in 2 more shows at the Downer location. One is coming up on January 12, 2008, and the other will either be February 2 or February 9...still undecided. I know from experience that chapters close and new chapters open. I'm not sure whether The Mosaic will reopen as a live performance bar in a new location. I will definitely keep you informed.
