Scott Malcom: Music
look out
Written in February of 2004, Look Out reflects the giddy optimism of entering the dating scene again against the advice of those who know better! This song in conjunction with Lazarus and Shine earned Scott a place in the semi-finals of the IMWS...Independent Musician World Series, a national contest held for songwriters and performers not yet signed to a record label.
Suffering from rose-colored glasses
I got them from the dollar store adjacent to Starbucks.
I'm royalty like Jacqueline Onassis.
If we need to crown a queen, I think I'm good enough.
This one is not for the masses.
I guess we'll make it up as we go along.
Contradictory to popular opinion,
the heart is my dominion and the rules are all just wrong.
You better look out.
3 A.M. eternal optimist
Yes, of course, I am Boo Radley's biggest fan.
I am the eyes-wide-shut optometrist.
It's high tide...I'm building castles in the sand.
My mother tells me boy you best be careful.
Your autumn leaves are fragile and the wind is blowing hard.
I tell her that the storm is quite appealing.
I've got this crazy feeling and it's caught me off my guard.
I am not your Mosa Lisa.
My lips are smiling and the kitchen's getting hot.
I guess I just don't see the risk of this.
Is it dangerous? Maybe...maybe not.
Oh, Jesus, I know it's high indemnity.
Oh, Buddha, it's my right to court catastrophe.
Oh, Muhammad, I know this part is blasphemy,
but I am my own deity when someone else is loving me.
Oh brother, I can hear the cluck of chicken,
but this feeling's finger-licking when it's rushing through my veins.
You can say nay if it makes your life seem better,
but the road is getting wetter invitation to the pain
I am not the Henny Penny type.
The sky is falling and I'm going for a walk.
People say whatever you will of this.
When my heart is racing all your lips can do is talk.
