Scott Malcom: Music
wild winds blow
Written in May of 2005, Wild Winds Blow is a song of anxiety, unsure footing, and confusion. With a calm section in the middle, the song begins and ends with wild piano and vocals. This is one of Scott's favorites because the piano part does not serve as an accompaniment...it is more of a partner in angst.
Suspended in the air
Don't know which way is up which way is down.
An axis through my center of gravity.
Kaleidoscope of sound
I try to close my eyes to make this spinning world stop going 'round.
REFRAIN
So let the wild winds blow.
Even the strong trees bend.
Just let the underwriter know that the house of cards is falling in.
Yes, the house is falling in.
So you better grab hold
'cause the only ones to make it out alive
are the ones who don't fold.
Circling in a vortex of emotional debris.
I see a patch of blue and then the storm it closes in on me.
I try to say my name.
Maybe this way I'll know what I can't see.
Can you survive without your circle?
Can you peel the bark from your tree?
Can you look inside your mirror and be satisfied with what you see?
Can you take all the negative and turn it into positivity?
Can you go swimming in a funnel cloud and come out of it as sane as me?
In the eye of the storm things are getting clearer.
Be proud of who you are. Soul be still.
I try to take a breath. The next step is getting nearer.
So let the wild winds blow.
Let the wild winds blow.
So let the wild winds blow.
I wanna dive in.
