Scott Malcom: Music
the bridge of brady
Written in July of 2004, The Bridge of Brady is an ode to Brady Street on Milwaukee's East Side. Scott was living there at the time, and he walked that historic street everyday to get his coffee!
Hello, Brady, my old friend.
You haven't seen me in a while.
I forgot what it felt like to have you in my skin.
I feel you bringing back my smile.
I think I'm going for a walk,
and I don't know where to go.
My feet lead me down Brady until the very end,
and on the bridge I cleanse my soul.
REFRAIN
On the bridge of Brady
Sitting on the weathered steps
On the bridge of Brady
That's where I find myself,
That's where I find myself again.
A cup of coffee and I sit outside.
I watch the people passing by.
And they don't know it, but they're walking down the ailse
of my new adopted shrine.
Sunday morning and I sit outside.
I nod to people and I say hello.
This is where I feel that I belong.
There's no place I'd rather go.
REFRAIN
When I'm done with this world,
and my life's before my eyes,
I hope that somehow it was all worthwhile,
and you remember me for what I felt on Brady.
Can you remember me for what I felt?
Can you remember me for what I found?
Can you remember me for who I was on Brady?
