Act of Contrition

(Scott Malcom)
December 12, 2009
from Irrational Disposition album

When someone steps all over you, sometimes you need them to disappear. This song is about someone who wanted to stay connected through the "I'm sorry" phase. Sometimes people want to keep their finger on the pulse of someone else's pain to maintain a feeling of investment.

Don't tell me that you love me.

Don't tell me that you care.

Don't tell me I'm a victim,

Cause I'm already there.

Don't tell me that you miss me,

that you think we could be friends.

And don't tell me that you're sorry,

Cause it's all just pretend.

REFRAIN

And it's a nice day for this indecision.

And it's a nice day for this act of contrition.

For this act of contrition.

Whisper down your grapevine.

Let the messenger do your will.

Return to the scene of the crime,

to the scene of the kill.

I'm enough for you to miss me,

but not enough for you to stay.

Take all your crazy questions, and walk away.
