Scott Malcom: Music
1994
Written in February of 2005, 1994 is a dream-like visit to a relationship in the past to say "I love you" one last time. This song was deemed by the judges of a Milwaukee talent contest as too "sci-fi" and too esoteric for the listeners. Listen and judge for yourself. It is one of my favorites.
Round-trip time travel
Paging H. G. Wells
I look and there you are before me.
You're ghost is smiling.
I knew you well.
I came to say that I love you.
Steady now... Just one more look before I go.
I won't turn into a pillar of salt you know.
I'm much stronger than that.
I'm much stronger than that.
Can these things be retrograde?
Can I hear the songs that I once played?
Can I take a trip back to the day when love was all we had?
If I take a walk back in time, could I kiss those lips that I thought were mine?
If I go back, would I want to stay if I knew what I know now?
I think I'm done here.
I've had my say.
You make more sense in the spectral world.
Cupid told me to be on my way
'cause the chariot is leaving
and it's time for me to run.
Going back once more to 1994
to tell you that I love you one more time.
'Cause if what you say is true,
then '94 will have to do.
Just give me those green eyes before they lied.
I guess it should have been a 1994 goodbye.
