Scott Malcom: Music
shine
Written in July of 2005, Shine pays tribute to those who have helped him through hard times. Shine is dedicated to Bill Wardlow, Amy Jacobson, and Keri Mallon. This song in conjunction with Look Out and Lazarus earned Scott a place in the semi-finals of the IMWS...Independent Musician World Series, a national contest held for songwriters and performers not yet signed to a record label.
It broke my heart to see the tear in your eye.
If I could change it all, I would.
A mortal man am I.
What can I do to realign the planets so the sun can shine on you?
Why don’t you shine?
Why don’t shine my friend?
It’s been a long time coming, and it’s good to see you again.
Why don’t you shine?
Why don’t you shine my friend?
You’re so beautiful when you shine.
Another crazy pitch in the game of your life.
You’ve seen more than you ever should.
All that I can do is say a prayer.
You know I’m there to lift you up when things are not so good.
Looking for a reason,
You’re looking for a rhyme.
Is anybody at the wheel?
It may be much to carry.
The loss and gain seems arbitrary,
but I can tell your heart’s begun to heal.
