Scott Malcom: Music
lazarus
Written in June of 2004, Lazarus is a somewhat bi-polar look at continuing with life after the end of something special. The voice in this song arises from the tomb of a 10-year relationship just as Lazarus did in the Bible. The piano in this song is some of Scott's most creative, and he never plays it the same way twice! This song in conjunction with Look Out and Shine earned Scott a place in the semi-finals of the IMWS...Independent Musician World Series, a national contest held for songwriters and performers not yet signed to a record label.
Change it up change it up Love's reversal
Can somebody pick me up from this 12-year dress rehearsal?
It doesn't matter what you say. It never mattered what you said.
The time I've spent away from you, I've arisen from the dead.
Hark, the herald angel sang of a lover in his prime.
Oh the feeling inside me.
What do I do with this, an unfamiliar sense of bliss,
a feeling I have missed? Is it mine?
You looked at me you looked at me and I was something to discard.
You set me free you set me free, and it wasn't even hard.
It doesn't matter where you live. It doesn't matter where you go.
I've arisen from the dead and for that I thank you so.
Lazarus my brother, We need to get together.
I'll meet you at Alterra down by the lake.
Lazarus my brother, There's a change in the weather.
We should catch up over latte and a coffee cake.
Lazarus my brother, How's the second time around?
But you were only down for a mere 4 days.
Lazarus my brother, I was 12 years in the ground,
and I'm taking off my grave clothes and walking away.
